Let's Talk About Discovering Your Talents

I want to dedicate this blogpost to those wo are in search of their talent. You may look around you and see how your friends or family members are growing. They're opening businesses, getting promotions, getting record deals but somehow you feel left out. Maybe you're a student, unemployed or you have a great job but you feel like there is much more that you can do. The only problem is that you don't know what it is.

Many times i've had conversations with people who admire the way that i've been practising spoken word. They see the way i'm passionate about what i do. They see the sparks in my eyes and the way my face lit up when i'm talking about my passion. They ask me: "How did you find something so fulfilling?"My answer is never short (i talk too much) and never easy. I always try to say something specific and meaningful that will help somebody. So i got awesome revelation to share my answers on a bigger platform so that everyone can read it.

Sooo here it comes. Are you ready?! (don't judge me)

GET THE RIGHT ATTITUDE

1) STOP BEING AFRAID! A lot of times we're great in doing certain things, but we're too afraid to step into that passion. Stop seeing yourself as someone who's incapable of inheriting succes.

2) FORGET YOUR AGE! This a mistake that a lot of us make. We limit ourselves by using the worst reasons ever! "I'm too old to dance cause i'm already 24" Like whuuuttt? How are you going to see yourself when you're 30 though?
I don't think that we got any right to complain about our age if there are a bunch of 80 year old men and women out there graduating from schools and participating in bodybuilding competitions. (google it bruh) The world is at your feet. You ain't getting younger anyway.
START MOVING

3) WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU'RE GOOD AT. Even if you're not sure, write every little thing down. Maybe you're good at motivating people, good with kids or sports. Also ask the people around you what they think you're good at. Create a conversation where they can explain their motives for choosing a particular answer. This can broaden your view on things. Compare the different answers together and see if you can find a resemblance.

4) DO SOME RESEARCH.  Follow people who are practising the type of talent(s) that you want to invest in. Check their performances, work, interviews and background. There are good testimonies out there. Getting inspired is a good way to keep things going. Get educated (Huge priority)! Knowledge is power my friend. Also check the possibilities of getting involved.

START DOING

5) GET ACTIVE. Get yourself in a group where you can invest in yourself. Subscribe to art/music/drama classes, photography courses, participate in development projects abroad, sign in for basketball teams etc.

6) SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE THAT SHARE THE SAME PASSION AND DREAMS. Hanging out with these people will be so contagious that they will catapult you on their way to succes. This may open more doors than you think. Later you can be able to help each other succeed.

7) DEVELOP A HABIT WHERE IT'S NORMAL TO USE YOUR TALENTS. The more you do it, the better you'll get at it. Don't let it become boring though. Keep on challenging yourself so you can grow and see a new side of yourself on your way up.

8) CREATE SOMETHING NEW. Don't do what everybody else does. Your talents are just as unique as you are. Walk around with a notebook to write down ideas for a project or new kind of poem or something. Make these ideas as tangible as possible. I'm such a dreamer, that sometimes i forget to actually shape my ideas into existence.

START BEING

9) BE YOUR NUMBER ONE SUPPORTER. Don't let anybody else steal that spot. Or better said, don't give anyone that spot. It's great to have supporters but at the end of the day know what's best for you. Sometimes people want to interfere with certain things and fit your talent in their boxes. But YOU are your talent. Stay connected to your gut and feelings. Nurture that part of yourself so that you will know when something shouldn't be done a certain way. Stay open for feedback though. Don't get stubborn.

10) Help others.  As soon as you start doing something that you love, people will automatically be drawn to you. So don't be astonished when people come up to you in the future. Be prepared to help others to achieve their goals. That's the power of gratitude my friend.

Well these are the 10 steps i came up with. I hope this helped you in any way.
I can already hear ya'll asking me: "But Chanty, how do i know if i've found my thing" ?
I can't give you a specific answer. But if that talent brings up the inner child in you? If it excites you the moment you wake up, then you will definitely know.

Now go out there and be the best you can be!
